Toyota PH adds Cargo variant to Hiace lineup
The Philippines is the number one market for the Toyota Hiace outside the company’s home market of Japan. With a wide array of variants to already choose from, Toyota Motor Philippines has just introduced a new Cargo version for those who need to transport load in a safe and secure way.
This finally fills a gap in the local Hiace lineup as most markets outside the Philippines such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore have an available Cargo variant while all variants available in our market focus on carrying passengers. As of May 2020, the Toyota Hiace holds a market share of 66%.
The Toyota Hiace Cargo is basically a previous generation Hiace Commuter variant without the rear seats. This allows the van to transport more cargo instead of passengers, especially since the standard Hiace Commuter’s seats are fixed in place.
“TMP in pursuit of providing for the needs of the market, it has introduced the Hiace Cargo to cater to customers who have requirements to transport load in a safe and secure way. It is also timely as we are also able to cater to the needs of the market for goods transfer during this pandemic situation,” explained Sherwin Chualim, Toyota Motor Philippines First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations. “The Philippines is the largest Hiace market outside Japan. We want to continue expanding our Hiace line-up for more versatile use.”
The 2020 Toyota Hiace Cargo is now available at Toyota dealerships. It retails at Php 1,101,000 this July.
