Toyota PH launches updated GR Yaris

At the start of March, Toyota Motor Philippines recently teased the arrival of the updated GR Yaris via a teaser on its Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines Facebook page.
We initially thought that the automaker would be releasing it during the first leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup, but we’ve been blindsided as the automaker has officially announced its launch today, with sales starting March 6.

The car’s visual updates include a revamped front bumper with larger front intakes and a new rear light design with a lightbar, as well as 18-inch forged aluminum wheels.

The interior gets the biggest changes with a new driver-focused cockpit design, like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a seven-inch infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an improved Toyota Safety Sense advanced driver assistance suite.
The 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine now produces a healthier 280 horsepower and 390Nm of torque, with improved cooling for better performance during spirited driving sessions. The two available transmissions are either a newly developed eight-speed direct shift automatic or the traditional six-speed manual transmission.

The 1.6 Turbo M/T starts at Php 3,391,000, and the 1.6 Turbo A/T costs Php 3,550,000. It’s offered in four colors: Super White, with Emotional Red, Precious Black, and Precious Metal costing an additional P20,000. You can also see the car in the metal at the first race weekend of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup this March 22 at the Clark International Speedway.
