2022 Toyota Veloz makes PH debut, starts at Php 1.185M
It’s no surprise how immediately popular the new generation Toyota Avanza is after it was launched back in March of this year. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is taking this a step further with the introduction of the Veloz, the brand’s latest 7-seater “subcompact SUV.”
Now a standalone nameplate instead of an Avanza variant, the Veloz is finally available in the Philippines in two variants. These are the 1.5 G CVT and 1.5 V CVT.
Outside, the Veloz is visually similar to the Avanza thanks to the fact that they are essentially the same vehicle. The Veloz does get additional styling bits to set it apart such as a sportier mesh-type front grille, a different and sportier bumper, larger headlights, larger wheels, and wraparound taillights.
Standard exterior equipment for both variants are LED headlights with sequential turn signals, LED taillights, power-folding side mirrors, overfenders, roof rails, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Looking inside, the Veloz also remains similar to the Avanza but also gets some stuff to keep it unique. It gets a two-tone color scheme, blue accents, a larger infotainment system, and ambient lighting.
Standard interior equipment for the 1.5 G CVT are fabric and leather combination material seats, 7-inch TFT multi-information display, leather-wrapped steering wheel, electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 6-speaker audio system. Going for the 1.5 V CVT adds a 9-inch infotainment screen.
Under the hood of the Veloz is the same powertrain found in the Avanza 1.5 G CVT. It is a 1.5-liter 2NR-VE Inline 4-cylinder engine that produces 106 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. For the local-spec Veloz, it is exclusively paired to a continuously variable transmission.
For safety, the 2022 Toyota Veloz is equipped with as standard. The 1.5 V CVT variant adds Toyota Safety Sense, the brand’s suite of advanced driver-assistance tech. This gives it a Pre-Collision System, Automatic High Beams, Lane Departure Alert, Blindspot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The V also gets a Panoramic View Monitor.
These are all on top of other safety equipment that are standard on both variants such as Dual Front Airbags, Side and Side Curtain Airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, and ISOFIX.
Again, the 2022 Toyota Veloz is available in two variants with the first one, the 1.5 G CVT priced at Php 1,185,000 while the fully-equipped 1.5 V CVT is priced at Php 1,225,000.
