Trying out Metro Manila’s MRT and LRT systems
We decided to do things a little differently today. Instead of driving or booking a car with ride-sharing apps, we took public transportation from Salcedo Village in Makati City to a car dealership in Pasay City where we picked-up our tester for the weekend.
After about 30 minutes of walking from Salcedo Village, we boarded the MRT-3 at Ayala Station, and transferred to the LRT-1 at Taft Avenue and EDSA Stations. We then got off at the Redemptorist-Aseana Station which was a one-minute walk from our destination. Do note that we did this during off-peak hours and rush hour will surely be a different experience.
The last time we did this was in 2020 and both lines have surely come a long way. There’s still a lot of room for improvement, especially station cleanliness and design, the LRT-1 only accepting payments through cash and Beep cards, lack of passenger discipline (such as watching videos on their phones in loud volume), but we’re definitely headed towards the right direction. Hopefully, we also see the completion of the under construction MRT Line 7 and North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR), sooner than later, for a better commuting experience.
Should we do this again during rush hour?
