Updated Honda CR-V launched in PH, now starts at Php 1.678M

The 2018 launch of the current fifth Honda CR-V was something big for Honda Cars Philippines. Sales of the compact SUV grew by around 50% within a year after its launch. Now, alongside the all-new 2021 Honda City, HCPI has also introduced in the local market the updated version of the CR-V.

The compact SUV’s popularity can be attributed to its 7-passenger capacity and turbodiesel powertrain which meets the needs of many Filipino buyers. For the 2021 Honda CR-V gets a host of updates to keep it fresh inside and out. 

While the overall exterior design remains very similar to the outgoing model, the 2021 Honda CR-V gets a couple of changes starting from the front bumper which gets a more chiseled look. LED headlights and fog lights are now standard on all variants. The front signal lights are also now sequential. A new 18-inch alloy wheel design is also present. The front grille also now gets a gloss-black finish, replacing the chrome on the outgoing version. The LED taillights now get smoked lenses.

Inside, the 2021 CR-V still gets seating for 7 passengers on diesel variants while the gasoline-powered one gets seating for 5. While the overall design and trim remain the same, new features include a wireless charging pad and a power-adjustable front passenger seat on the top-spec variant. The 1.6 S variant now gets a power tailgate while the one the top-spec 1.6 SX is now also hands-free. A panoramic sunroof is still standard on the 1.6 SX variant.

Under the hood, the 2021 Honda CR-V’s powertrain options remain the same. The base 2.0-liter SOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine still produces 151 hp and 189 Nm of torque, paired to an Earth Dreams CVT. The popular 1.6-liter i-DTEC turbodiesel on the other hand still produces 120 hp and 300 Nm of torque, paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of safety, Honda SENSING, the brand’s safety suite is now standard on both the top-spec 1.6 SX and 1.6 S diesel variants. This was previously only available on the top-spec 1.6 SX variant. This means both variants are equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. A Driver Attention Monitor is now standard across the CR-V lineup.

Color options on the 2021 Honda CR-V are also updated. You still get the same Platinum White Pearl and Modern Steel Metallic exterior colors, other colors are replaced by new Cosmic Blue Metallic and Ignite Red exterior colors. This means the Honda CR-V can no longer be had in silver or in black.

The 2021 Honda CR-V is just slightly more expensive than the pre-facelift model it replaces. Pricing is as follows:

• 2.0 S CVT – Php 1,678,000
• 1.6 V Diesel – Php 1,713,000
• 1.6 S Diesel Honda SENSING – Php 1,888,000
• 1.6 SX Diesel Honda SENSING – Php 2,158,000

The base 2.0 S variant received a price increase of Php 10,000. The 1.6 V Diesel on the other hand got a Php 15,000 price increase while both 1.6 S and SX Diesel variants with Honda SENSING got increases of Php 30,000.
