Volkswagen PH Goes Global With 2021 T-Cross, Price Starts at Php 1.098M

After quite a lengthy teaser campaign on its social media pages, Volkswagen Philippines is finally going global with the launch of its latest crossover, the T-Cross subcompact.

The T-Cross is the company’s first globally available model after models such as the Golf GTS, Jetta, and Touareg were phased out a few years ago in favor of more affordable China-sourced and exclusive models such as the Santana, Lavida, and Lamando. The new Volkswagen T-Cross is available in over 55 countries around the world.

First, the variants. The 2021 Volkswagen T-Cross can be had in two variants: 1.5 MPI S and 1.5 MPI SE. Both are powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 113 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. If this powertrain and its numbers sound familiar, that’s because it’s shared with the local-spec Volkswagen Santana subcompact sedan.

Going for the entry-level variant gives you features such as halogen headlights, LED taillights, 16-inch alloy wheels, two USB ports for the rear passengers, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Moving up to the SE variant adds more niceties such as LED headlights, front fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather and fabric combination seat material, a 9.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, interior mood lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. Also in addition, the SE variant adds quirky color combinations that match the exterior. For example, a T-Cross with Tribu Yellow exterior body color will get the same yellow trims on the inside.

In terms of safety, the T-Cross is equipped with dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system as standard. The SE variant adds a reverse camera and rear parking sensors, and autonomous emergency braking, a feature that is uncommon in the segment and price point.

All T-Cross buyers will be able to take advantage of a 3-years, or 100,000 km warranty (whichever comes first), and a 2-year spare parts warranty. On top of this, T-Cross ownership should be more affordable than its competition as preventive maintenance servicing will only be required once a year, or every 10,000 km (whichever comes first).

The 2021 Volkswagen T-Cross are now available in all Volkswagen dealerships in Luzon. Visayas and Mindanao dealerships will soon follow with availability beginning on June 4, 2021. Prices start at Php 1,098,000 for the entry-level 1.5 MPI S variant while the top-spec 1.5 MPI SE variant is priced at Php 1,198,000. Also due to popular demand, Volkswagen PH is also giving out introductory discounts of Php 30,000 until June 30, 2021.
