Volkswagen PH Teases Upcoming Model, T-Cross?

Way over a year after announcing that they will be launching a new crossover model that starts with the letter T, Volkswagen Philippines is finally fulfilling that promise.

The company under the distributorship of Ayala-owned AC Motors has teased on its official Facebook page the launch of a new model. This could also be part of the guaranteed five new models to be launched by AC Motors for 2021 which includes its other brands Maxus and Kia.

The teaser posted on the company’s Facebook page shows a small crossover that based on a little research matches the look of the Volkswagen T-Cross. This model is also manufactured by SAIC-VW which could mean it is likely to be sourced from them just like other models currently sold by the German marque in our market.

First introduced to the world in 2018, the T-Cross is a global model and to highlight this, was launched simultaneously in Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, and Shanghai.

Based on the Volkswagen China website some possible features would be LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and interior accents that match the exterior color.

Also if based on the Chinese model, the T-Cross for the local market could get either a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine or a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol. The former produces 113 hp and is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission while the latter produces 150 hp paired to a 7-speed DSG.

There is no news yet as to when the Volkssagen T-Cross will be launched in our market but if based on when they first teased the 2021 Santana, it could be in around two months. We’ll probably be seeing more teasers and information coming in soon as well.
