Volvo PH set to launch two new EVs

In case you don’t know, Volvo Cars Philippines was actually the first car brand to introduce plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in the local market. In recent years, the Swedish automaker also brought-in its lineup of Boost Hybrids.

Now, they want to take it a step further by confirming the introduction of not one, but two fully-electric vehicles in the Philippines. The company has previously committed to having up to 1-million electrified Volvos on the road globally by 2025.

We recognize that we, as a mobility provider, are part of the climate change problem. However, we at Volvo also know that we can do our share and be part of the solution,” shares Volvo Philippines President and CEO Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla.

It is good that the automotive industry is following Volvo’s lead in making significant steps to address current mobility concerns. Volvo Cars is acknowledged for our industry-leading commitment to an electric future. In line with this, locally, we will once again move the brand forward towards its vision by introducing two pure electric vehicles in the second half of 2023,” adds Atty. Arcilla.

They did not reveal what exact electric vehicles we’ll be getting but right now, Volvo only produces two full EVs globally. These are the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge. Another model—the EX90 which was revealed last year, is not yet in production.

With the brand already taking advantage of its lineup of mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, it’s definitely the right step to go fully-electric moving forward, especially with its rivals already introducing such left and right.
