What is Toyota PH launching this month?
Just a month after launching a refreshed version of its Wigo subcompact hatchback, Toyota Motor Philippines will be launching yet another model and it will be held on July 25, as teased on their official Facebook page.
There is no info as to what exact model will be launched but the post is accompanied by a photo specifying the launch date and time, as well as a shadowy image of the model to be introduced.
Based on the shadowy image, the new model could be the refreshed Toyota Yaris hatchback. The current Toyota Yaris was launched in December 2017 for the 2018 model year. The timing seems just right for another refresh.
Strengthening our speculation is how patent images for what appears to be the refreshed 2021 Toyota Yaris was found online in a patent filing at the National Institute of Industrial Property in Argentina, by Argentinian automotive website Parabrisas.
Based on the images, the facelifted Yaris is shown with a new front fascia. The headlights in particular look similar to those in the previous and current generation Toyota Corolla Altis. The front bumper also gets a redesign with new fog light housing. The rest of the bodywork appears to be unchanged from the current model.
The rear on the other hand also seems to remain unchanged. Its tailgate, rear windshield and taillights appear to be carried over from the current model. A slight redesign can be seen at the lower corners of the rear bumper.
If it is true that Toyota Motor Philippines will be indeed launching the refreshed Yaris, then we won’t be surprised if a refreshed Vios will be launched soon as well. Let’s wait and see as they hold the launch event online on July 25, 2020 at 6:00 PM.
