Xiaomi partners with Gran Turismo to have the SU7 Ultra in-game

One of the hottest cars to come out of China of late is the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which is the flagship EV of the tech company with an astounding 1,527 horsepower being sent to all four wheels, a 1.97 second 0-100kph time, and a top speed of almost 349kph, among other crazy things like lots of carbon fiber, bespoke Pirelli P Zero rubber, and improved brakes over the standard car.

Recently, the production model of the hyper-EV just set a track record at the Nurburgring Nordschleife with a crazy quick 7:04.957, besting the likes of the Rimac Nevera (7:05.298) and the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT (7:07.55). This is not as fast as the stripped-down prototype’s time of 6:46.874, which still holds the record time for four-door EVs til this date.

Coincidentally, the folks at Polyphony Digital, the makers of the famous Gran Turismo series of videogames, paid a visit to Xiaomi’s headquarters in Beijing.

Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi was able to test drive the SU7 Ultra and also struck a partnership with the brand to announce a partnership that will not only see the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra arrive in Gran Turismo 7 as part of a future update, but also as a new addition to the ever-growing roster of Vision Gran Turismo concept cars.

This will mark the first time a Chinese automaker will ever join the series, but the Forza Horizon 5 actually was one of the first mainstream racing games to introduce Chinese cars in the “Chinese Lucky Stars Car Pack”, which brought in cars such as the Lynk and Co 05+, the MG Cyberster, the Chinese-built Volkswagen Santana, and the Wuling Mini EV.
