The official distributor of Jeep vehicles in the Philippines, Auto Nation Group has launched a new model which is the 2020 Jeep Compass. Its Trailhawk version was first previewed during the 2019 Manila International Auto Show.

A few weeks ago we reported that GAC-FCA, the joint venture company of Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) with GAC Motor Co. of China started exporting units of the Jeep Compass and Renegade to the Philippines. This means that the Compass is able to take advantage of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement which allows the distributor to sell the model at a more competitive price.

One of the latest global models from Jeep, the Compass of course features the company’s signature seven-slot grille. Connected to the grille are a pair of projector-type halogen headlights with daytime running lights. On the side you will notice a chrome strip that runs from the front windows all the way to the rear windshield. On the rear the crossover gets a pair of LED taillights. The vehicle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires.

Inside, just like the Renegade that was launched at the same time, the Compass features a 7-inch UConnect 4 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife. CarLife is a Chinese competitor to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Sound is also sent through six speakers. You also get a large dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood, the Compass is powered by a 1.4-liter MultiAir turbocharged gasoline engine. It produces a maximum output of 162 hp and 250 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dry dual-clutch transmission. Safety features include ABS, stability control, reverse camera, and rear parking sensors.

Thanks to the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement, the 2020 Jeep Compass is priced quite competitively at Php 1,850,000. You can also get a Php 50,000 discount if you reserve a unit before June 30, 2020. The price tag puts it in line with its competitors such as the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Subaru Forester. It is now available in all Jeep dealerships nationwide.
