Here’s the all-new 2021 Nissan X-Trail/Rogue

The Nissan Rogue is the North American market equivalent of the X-Trail

After a couple of leaked images found their way on the internet, Nissan has finally revealed the all-new 2021 Nissan Rogue which is sold as the X-Trail in our market. It is now on its third generation as the Rogue and fourth generation as then X-Trail, and is completely redesigned inside and out.

This all-new generation is still set to compete in the hot compact crossover market with the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and Geely Azkarra.

At first look, the all-new X-Trail/Rogue looks bigger than before. This is actually not the case as it is shorter by 1.5-inches and lower by 0.2 inches. In front, it gets Nissan’s signature V-Motion grille and split LED headlights. It also gets a pair of LED fog lights on the bumper. It definitely looks like it took some inspiration from the 2nd-generation Juke subcompact crossover.

On the side, it gets some silver and chrome accents that liven it up a bit. We can also see a new set of 19-inch alloy wheels. At the back, we see some Nissan Kicks inspiration on the taillight design and a tailgate spoiler.

Inside, the all-new X-Trail/Rogue is visibly more premium. Right in the center is a new 9-inch NissanConnect touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it still has a volume knob! Making the cabin more upscale is some wood trim on the dashboard, doors, and center console, plus the quilted pattern of the leather Nissan Zero-Gravity seats which promise maximum comfort. Also found in the center console is a new electronic shift lever which helps free up space.

As it is all-new, it won’t be left behind in terms of tech and safety. It can be had with Nissan Intelligent Mobility which is the company’s safety suite. Under Intelligent Mobility there’s a 360-degree Around-view monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and rear automatic braking. Other tech and safety features include push button start, rear door alert, and easy fill tire alert. All-Wheel Drive versions will also get a driving mode selector with Off-road, Snow, Standard, Eco and Sport modes.

It is also equipped with Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist, a hands-on, driver-assist technology that reduces the hassle of stop-and-go highway driving and makes long drives on the open highway easier. ProPILOT Assist combines steering assist and Intelligent Cruise Control to help control acceleration, braking and steering in both heavy traffic and on the open highway.

Under the hood, the all-new Nissan X-Trail/Rogue is still powered by a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated direct injection gasoline engine. Power is up by 11 hp at 181 horsepower, and torque is at 245 Nm, paired to a continuously variable transmission. There is no mention whether the current base 2.0-liter gasoline engine in the Philippine-market X-Trail will still be available.

The 2021 Nissan Rogue is expected to be available in North American showrooms by September or October 2020. As to when we’ll see it in the Philippines, we’ll have to wait for a launch in Thailand or Japan where Nissan Philippines can source units once they launch it here.
