After months of anticipation, fans and enthusiasts will no longer have to wait as Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has finally introduced the latest generation of the brand’s most iconic model, the Civic.

The Honda Civic, now in its 11th generation, is completely new and was first unveiled in prototype form in November 2020. It was then fully revealed in April this year for the 2022 model year in April this year. Close to home, it was launched in Thailand (where we source local Civic units from) in August and now it’s finally here after just a few months.

In terms of styling, the 2022 Honda Civic gets a more mature appearance compared to the outgoing model. This is apparent with its slimmer and simpler looking headlights, body-colored grille, and most especially with the taillights on the rear which ditches their controversial crab claw or C-shaped styling.

Starting from the base 1.5 S Turbo variant, standard exterior equipment are halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, and 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Going for the 1.5 V Turbo will give you LED headlights, LED fog lights, power-folding side mirrors, and 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Finally, going for the 1.5 RS Turbo will add LED high-mount stop lamp, RS grille emblem, blacked-out door handles and shark fin antenna, black rear spoiler, 18-inch RS matte black alloy wheels, and a tailpipe finisher.

Inside, the 2022 Honda Civic features the brand’s latest interior design language dubbed “Simplicity and Something.” While it does appear more simple overall, it is also very much elevated in terms of premium feels.

Starting from the base variant, standard interior features are a 7-inch partially digital instrument cluster similar to the Honda Accord, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and automatic climate control. Moving up to the 1.5 V Turbo will add ambient lighting, an 8-speaker audio system, and rear air-conditioning vents.

Going for the 1.5 RS Turbo will give you black leather and suede combination seat material, 8-way power driver seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, sport pedals, a 10.2-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto and built-in navigation, a 15W wireless charger, 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

All variants of the 2022 Civic also come with push button start while going for the 1.5 V Turbo CVT will give you smart keyless entry, remote engine start, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlights.

Under the hood, a 1.5-liter Inline-4 Cylinder VTEC Turbo engine is now standard on all variants. It produces 174 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, paired to an Earth Dreams Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). This means that you can no longer purchase a Honda Civic with a naturally-aspirated engine.

Safety for the 2022 Honda Civic has also been upgraded bigtime. Now standard on all variants is Honda Sensing, a suite of driver-assistance features composed of Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Auto High-Beam (AHB), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (ACC with LSF), and Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN).

Also standard on all variants are Dual Front Airbags, Side Airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, Multi-View Reverse Camera and ISOFIX Childseat Anchors. Going for the top-spec 1.5 RS Turbo adds Side Curtain Airbags and a LaneWatch Camera.

Available colors for the 2022 Honda Civic are Platinum White Pearl (for 1.5 RS Turbo CVT and 1.5 V Turbo CVT only), Lunar Silver Metallic (exclusively for 1.5 S Turbo CVT), and Ignite Red Metallic (exclusively for 1.5 RS Turbo CVT). New for this generation are Morning Mist Blue Metallic and Meteoroid Grey Metallic.

The 2022 Honda Civic is now available at all Honda dealerships nationwide with the following suggested retail prices:

  • Civic 1.5 S Turbo CVT – Php 1,290,000
  • Civic 1.5 V Turbo CVT – Php 1,498,000
  • Civic 1.5 RS Turbo CVT – Php 1,690,000
