2023 Honda BR-V’s scores 24.7 km/L in recent fuel economy run

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is not stopping its teasing game for the upcoming launch of the 2nd generation of their BR-V 7-seater compact MPV. After announcing some specifications and possible prices, they are now bragging its fuel economy, an important factor in most car buying decisions these days due to the uncertainty of fuel prices.

This comes after the company completed a fuel economy run together with the Automotive Association of the Philippines (AAP). If you’re planning to own a brand-new 2nd generation Honda BR-V, you’ll not have to worry much as it definitely did not disappoint.

For the test, HCPI and AAP used three variants of the all-new BR-V, the 1.5 S CVT, 1.5 V CVT, and 1.5 VX CVT Honda SENSING. Only the base 1.5 S M/T was absent from the fuel economy test. They also followed some parameters which are no usage of cruise control, average driving speed of between 70 to 80 kph, and a low temperature setting with lowest fan speed setting for the vehicles’ climate control system.

It is also good to note that all variants of the upcoming 2023 Honda BR-V are powered by a 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder i-VTEC gasoline engine that produces 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, paired to an Earth Dreams CVT, as confirmed by HCPI previously.

So how much fuel does the Honda BR-V consume? The 1.5 S CVT was able to achieve a fuel economy rating of 22.61 km/l. Good? The 1.5 VX CVT Honda SENSING did even better at 23.48 km/l while the 1.5 V CVT beat the other two at an impressive 24.70 km/l.

The second-generation BR-V aims to strengthen Honda’s model lineup to the next level. This all-new 7-seater ticks the right boxes in a family vehicle, it’s got the tough character of an SUV, advanced technology and safety features, power, and efficiency to deliver great satisfaction for both the driver and its passengers,” said Mr. Masahiko Nakamura, President of HCPI.

The launch of the 2023 Honda BR-V will be happening next week, on November 21 to be exact.
