2023 Nissan Z Officially Revealed With A Twin-Turbo V6

2 min read

It has been 15 years since the world first saw the Nissan 370Z. While production of the nameplate was discontinued in 2020, it meant there was room for something new and that something has officially been revealed today.

Nissan has officially unveiled the all-new 2023 Nissan Z. Yes, it is now simply called the Z without any numbers denoting the engine size. The new Z is the seventh generation of Nissan’s Z-car line. Based on the Z Proto concept presented almost a year ago, features a new twin-turbo V6 engine, as well as all-new exterior and interior styling.

The all-new Z boasts a new and sleek exterior design with an appearance that communicates respect to its lineage. Its long hood and short deck are fundamentally Z, and the overall design theme for the exterior and interior of the new Z follows “tradition with modern technology.” The LED headlights take inspiration from the Japan-exclusive Fairlady 240ZG of the 70’s. The LED taillights on the other hand take inspiration from the Z32 300ZX.

On the side, the roofline flows from the nose to the squared-off rear to create a distinctive first-generation Z profile. These design cues give the new Z a retro appearance while at the same time brings the vehicle to the modern times. The Z Performance grade features a rear spoiler that creates positive pressure where the rear hatch and spoiler meet, mitigating rear lift. The front spoiler takes advantage of knowledge gained through Nissan GT-R development to utilize negative pressure zones.

The all-new Z is available in three monotone exterior colors and six two-tone exterior colors including two new colors, Seiran Blue and Ikazuchi Yellow – both with a Super Black roof.

Inside, the all-new Z also combines retro design cues from older-generation Z cars with modern technology. Just like previous-generation Z’s, the center-stack gets a set of three gauge clusters. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes as standard as well as a 12.3-inch customizable digital driver’s instrument cluster.

Under the hood of the 2023 Nissan Z is a new 3.0 L twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 475 Nm of torque. It is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a new 9-speed automatic transmission.

For the United States market, the all-new Z will be offered in Sport and Performance grades, each with a choice of a 6-speed manual or new 9-speed automatic transmission.

A limited edition Nissan Z Proto Spec is also offered featuring exclusive yellow-colored brake calipers with Z logo, bronze-colored aluminum-alloy wheels, exclusive leather-appointed seats with yellow accents and yellow interior stitching throughout. Production of the Nissan Z Proto Spec is limited to 240 units.

Nissan will be announcing details for the all-new Z for the Japan market, known as the Fairlady Z, later this year. Meanwhile, Nissan Philippines still sells locally the outgoing 370Z and 370Z NISMO. We’re definitely hoping that they decide to offer the all-new Z as well.
