Bermaz Auto celebrates 10th year as Mazda PH distributor

Time does indeed go by so fast as Mazda Philippines celebrates its 10th year under its current distributor in the country, Bermaz Auto Philippines Inc. (BAP), which was incorporated on August 10, 2012. BAP celebrated the anniversary of its first decade in the Philippines together with select members of motoring media and content creators last August 10, 2022 at its Center of Excellence facility in Cabuyao, Laguna.

BAP is a subsidiary of Bermaz Motor International Ltd., which in turn is an indirect subsidiary of Berjaya Corporation Berhad, one of Malaysia’s largest conglomerates. In the Philippine automotive industry, the company is related to Berjaya Auto Asia, the company behind SsangYong and Kaicene operations in the country.

In its 10 years operating in the Philippines, BAP was able to introduce Mazda’s diverse line-up of award-winning models starting from the Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-30, CX-5, CX-9, MX-5, and BT-50. Also, the company was the first in the country to offer free preventive maintenance services for the first few years of car ownership. In 2016 and 2019, Mazda ranked first in J.D. Power Customer Service Index (CSI).

In 2019, BAP formally inaugurated its Mazda Center of Excellence (MCOE) facility. Spanning a total of 2.5 hectares, the facility is used as a training center and warehouse for vehicles prior to their delivery to dealerships. It also generates its own electricity using 270 solar panels, making up to 145,000 kWh in a year. In addition, the MCOE can also harvest up to 135,000 liters of rainwater, used for washing Mazda vehicles prior to delivery, and for housekeeping.

As of August 2022, there are 16 full-service Mazda dealerships around the Philippines. These are Mazda Greenhills, Mazda Pasig, Mazda Quezon Avenue, Mazda Makati, Mazda Alabang, Mazda Sta. Rosa, Mazda Pulilan, Mazda Pampanga, Mazda Dagupan, Mazda Cabanatuan, Mazda Tarlac, Mazda Cebu, Mazda Iloilo, Mazda Negros, Mazda Cagayan De Oro, and Mazda Davao.

Mazda has gone a long way since we started back in 2012. We could not have done it without the support of our dealer partners, our owners, the various Mazda clubs, and the media. You guys have always been part of it, and have always been there for us,” said Mr. Steven Tan, president of Bermaz Auto Philippines.
