2023 Honda Civic Type R is the fastest Civic Type R ever

Back in July, just in time for the Civic nameplate’s 50th anniversary, Honda unveiled the all-new version of its high performance variant, the Civic Type R. However, specifications were missing that time and now, the Japanese carmaker has officially revealed it all.

Of note, the all-new Honda Civic Type R is now the most powerful Type R model in its 30-year history, and one of the most powerful Honda models ever produced for market consumption.

We already know what’s under the hood and that’s a 2.0-liter K20C1 Inline 4-cylinder VTEC Turbo that is exclusively designed for the Type R that is still exclusively paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. It produces between 315 to 330 horsepower, depending on the market, and 420 Nm of torque.

Honda says that improvements in output and response are achieved by using a redesigned turbocharger, increased air intake flow rate, and a new more efficient exhaust system that features a straight through design and an active exhaust valve. A larger grille opening, bigger radiator and a new large-diameter fan improve engine cooling which is important for high performance driving.

The 2023 Honda Civic Type R is now built at the automaker’s Yorii Plant in Japan instead of the United Kingdom where the previous generation was buitl. As for the Philippine market, we don’t have any word yet when the all-new Civic Type R will arrive, but we do hope it’s soon.
