Geely PH grows by 52% in 2022 with over 9,000 vehicles sold

Geely Philippines, under the distributorship of Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) Corporation, continues to see success in the local market as it ended the previous year on a high note.

The Chinese automaker entered the new year with a 52% sales increase in the previous year compared to 2021, bringing the total number of Geely vehicles sold in the country last year to 9,302 units. This number also placed the brand 8th in overall industry sales with a 2.6% market share.

Its top-selling model remains to be the very popular Coolray subcompact crossover which found 4,370 new homes, a 36% increase compared to 2021. This is followed by the Okavango 7-seater MPV-SUV which saw a total of 3,041 units sold or 19% increase. Meanwhile, the Emgrand subcompact sedan, which was launched last year, and Azkarra compact crossover saw sales of 1,458 and 433 units, respectively.

Based on the CAMPI report, the industry saw a significant growth in SUVs and MPVs at around 65% and 58%, respectively. “Geely’s overall sales performance in 2022 has definitely benefited from the popularity and increased demand for bigger vehicles last year wherein more buyers shifted to SUVs and MPVs,” said SGAP President & CEO Yugo Kiyofuji.

We are facing the new year with a greater outlook not only for Geely but also for the country’s whole car industry given the significant improvement in the overall industry sales in 2022. As we target to sell 5-digits this year, we remain focused to further expand our network especially on growth areas. This is also an exciting time for Geely as we aim to introduce more models that will continue to change the game in its respective segments,” Kiyofuji added.

After more than three years in the local market, Geely Philippines continues to prove its skeptics wrong. We’re definitely looking forward to what the brand has in store for us this year.
