Top 10 best-selling cars in PH for 2022
2022 was a year for recovery, not only for people going back to their normal pre-pandemic day-to-day lives, but also for the Philippine automotive industry which experienced massive growth, almost reaching the same numbers from a few years ago. We even saw the return of various well-loved and attended auto shows such as the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) and Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).
And with a new year, we now look back at the previous year and see which vehicles and brands managed to sell the most.
Unsurprisingly, Toyota Motor Philippines kept its throne as the number one selling automaker in the market, selling a total of 174,106 vehicles last year. In fact, the Japanese automaker was even able to snag 8 spots out of 10 in the market’s top-selling list. Followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation in 2nd with 53,211 units sold, and Ford Philippines in 3rd place with 24,710 units sold.
The Toyota Vios subcompact sedan once again takes the top spot as the Philippines’ best-selling vehicle with 34,465 units sold on the market. This is then followed by the Toyota Hilux midsize pickup truck with 24,537 units finding new homes. In third place is everyone’s favorite Toyota Innova which managed to sell 17,810 units. 4th place goes to the Toyota Fortuner midsize pickup-based SUV which found itself with 16,925 new homes, followed by the Toyota Rush 7-seater compact MPV/SUV that saw itself selling 14,871 units. These round up the top five best-selling models in the Philippines.
At sixth place is the little Toyota Wigo small hatchback with 14,306 units sold, followed by the Toyota Raize small crossover at 7th place with 13,279 sold. Managing to break Toyota’s hot streak is the Mitsubishi Xpander compact 7-seater MPV at 8th place with 13,090 units sold. This is then followed by another Toyota once again, the Hiace van, selling 12,314 units in 9th place.
Finally, rounding up the top 10 best-selling cars in the Philippines is the Nissan Navara with 11,281 units finding new owners.
Are you one of those who contributed to these vehicles’ high sales numbers last year? With new generations of some of these vehicles expected to come out this year, it’s definitely gonna be very exciting.
