FACE OFF: Honda Brio 1.2 RS vs. Chevrolet Spark 1.4 Premier CVT

Which of these two subcompact hatchbacks win the city car spec race?

Every car segment has their own popular choices. For the subcompact hatchback class, the first things that would go in your mind would probably be the Mitsubishi Mirage or the Toyota Wigo. The segment has been growing lately with each car brand introducing at least one subcompact each.

One that was very promising at its teaser during the 2018 Philippine International Motor Show as the Honda Small RS Concept. The Honda Brio 1.2 RS is probably the best looking in the segment with its baby Mobilio face which is inspired by the Honda Civic. The Chevrolet Spark 1.4 Premier CVT on the other hand is rather silent. Does it have what it takes to beat the more experienced Honda Brio?

The two hatchbacks only have a very slight difference when it comes to pricing. The basically top-spec Honda Brio 1.2 RS goes for Php 730,000 with an additional Php 5,000 for a black roof option. The top-spec Chevrolet Spark 1.4 Premier CVT is just a little bit more expensive than the non-black top Brio RS at Php 734,888. That’s only Php 112 less than the Brio 1.2 RS Blacktop.

The specs will be the one to decide which better. We compiled the different specifications of the two models below. Based on them, which do you think is the better choice among the two?
