New Hyundai Creta teased in India with huge changes

The Hyundai Creta is undoubtedly one of the most popular models for the Korean automaker here in the Philippines since it was launched in 2022.

While it has been here for more or less two years, the current generation has been available in other markets, such as India, since 2019, making it ripe for a major refresh, and that’s what we’re seeing as Hyundai Motor India has just released a bunch of teasers showing it off.

Designed with Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language, the new Hyundai Creta looks bolder and squarish, taking cues from the brand’s latest models such as the Palisade and Santa Fe, based on the teaser images and videos. The front fascia gets a new radiator grill and upright hood design with what Hyundai calls Horizon LED positioning lights and daytime running lights, and quad beam LED headlights.

Its interior is getting a huge update, departing from the current version’s Tucson-like design. Mainly noticeable is the dual-screen setup for the infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster which are seamlessly integrated with each other.

Hyundai Motor India has also confirmed three different powertrain options. The first is a 1.5-liter Kappa turbocharged gasoline engine, followed by a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated version, and a 1.5-liter turbodiesel. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual transmission, Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Again, the teased new Creta is from the Indian market. We do not know at this point if we could get the same model here in the Philippines once it’s revealed as our local market Creta is actually sourced from Indonesia, and is different from the one manufactured in India. With the very eye-catching teasers, we do hope we get a similar model as well.

The updated Hyundai Creta will be revealed on January 16, 2024.
