Honda Foundation Inc. holds first-ever road safety summit

Many people call Metro Manila an urban jungle, and for good reason. The streets become overwhelmingly congested during rush hour, accommodating the full brunt of the city’s hustle and bustle. Even visitors from overseas can’t help but be astonished by the sheer busy-ness of our streets.

Driving school may teach someone how to drive, but it takes a certain skill set to eventually get used to this type of gridlock transport. Luckily, Honda Foundation Inc. (HFI) recently held its first ever Road Safety Summit to guide all road users in road-using etiquette and defensive techniques.

The aforementioned Road Safety Summit was conducted at the Pasig Rainforest Park in conjunction with the city’s local government. It focused on keeping riding/driving fun, yet practical and applicable in daily life. The crux of the topic was accident prevention and learning how to respond to various situations.

It was attended by over 500 road users comprising of motorcycle and automobile enthusiasts such as Riders’ clubs, LGU employees, Traffic enforcers, TODA, students, and families visiting the Pasig Rainforest Park.

According to the brand, this is actually a follow-up to the successful 2019 “Safety Riding” promotional efforts which also included ride testing, tutorials, presentations, and talks. Due to the positive engagement accrued by that event, HFI decided to push it to an even larger scale.

The results were fantastic. Besides the massive turnout, the local government’s officials also expressed their appreciation and support for this initiative, citing that it is necessary for Pasiguenos to learn such skills. It is a vital workshop that will surely protect and save lives in the future.
