Geely’s global sales grows by 67% in 1H 2024

While the Geely brand in the Philippines is currently undergoing a transition to its new management, the Chinese automaker’s parent company, Geely Auto International Corporation (GAIC) has announced some good news for the company globally.

The Chinese automaker has seen its sales grow by 41% with a total of 955,730 vehicles sold for the first half of 2024. Of that figure, 197,428 vehicles were sold in markets outside of China, translating to a growth of 67% which is a record-breaking figure for the brand.

GAIC is also proud to say that the Geely brand ranks among the top three Chinese brands in terms of vehicle sales in 14 markets including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and even the Philippines.

No exact figures were given but GAIC also says that their flagship Monjaro midsize SUV is among the top three bestselling Chinese vehicles in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. Meanwhile, the Emgrand holds the distinction as the top-selling Chinese car in Kazakhstan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, among others. In addition, the Okavango easily reached the top three position in segment sales in Kazakhstan, just within the month after its launch there.

As for the Philippines, with a new management as a direct subsidiary that is part of the GAIC umbrella, we’re expecting the arrival of models such as the heavily refreshed versions of the popular Coolray subcompact crossover and Okavango MPV, and the new generation Azkarra, among other possibilities.
