PIMS 2024 | PH-spec Ford Ranger Raptor gets the V6 engine it deserves

When Ford Philippines said that they listen to their customers, they really do. Proof is their latest introduction at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

Due to popular demand, the blue oval brand has officially introduced the much sought-after Ranger Raptor V6. Yes, you can now get the high-performance Ranger with a six-cylinder engine under the hood. This comes more than a year after the truck was introduced locally.

Buyers will now have the option to get a 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 gasoline engine with their Ranger Raptors. That engine produces 397 horsepower and 583 Nm of torque, mated to Ford’s 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Compared to the standard bi-turbo diesel powertrain, that makes 184 horsepower and 83 Nm more.

It’s not just the powertrain that’s different here as the Raptor V6 also gets adaptive dampers for its Fox suspension with 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass Shock Absorbers, and a front locking differential (in addition to the rear), all for better performance on- and off-road.

For those who want to hear the most out of the V6 engine, the Ranger Raptor V6 gets an Active Valve Exhaust system with four selectable sound modes—Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Baja.

Outside of performance parts, the Ranger Raptor V6 gets the same amount of standard features as the turbodiesel version such as full LED exterior lighting, a Raptor-exclusive front grille and bumpers, aluminum step boards, leather seats, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12-inch SYNC4 touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among others.

Added for the V6 is a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen (B&O) premium audio system.

As with the diesel, the Raptor V6 is fully-equipped with Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 suite of advanced driver-assist systems, giving it an Adjustable Speed Limiter, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Auto High Beam, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Pre-Collision Assist, Dynamic Brake Support, Distance Alert/Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Warning, Evasive Steering Assist, Post-Impact Braking, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Aid, Driver Alert System, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert and Braking, Reverse Braking Assist, and Active Park Assist 2.0.

With the Philippines as the Ford Ranger Raptor’s strongest market at one point, here’s to hoping the introduction of the V6 allows for that to happen again. Oh, by the way, it’s priced at Php 2,739,000, and only 300 units will be sold initially.
