Chery celebrates 5 years in PH under UAAGI
Chery Auto Philippines has a lot to celebrate. The Chinese automaker is marking the fifth year since it re-entered the Philippine market under the distributorship of United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI).
UAAGI brought back the Chery brand to our shores in November 2019. Since then, the company has launched several offers and new models which they say have set benchmarks in the industry.
One of which is their Premium Preserv Warranty Program which gives customers a five-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, and three years of free Preventive Maintenance Services (PMS) and 24/7 Roadside Assistance. There was even a 10-year or 1-million kilometer engine warranty at one point.
The company also began offering its EC Mobile Service which allowed customers to have their vehicles’ PMS done without having to drive to a dealership.
In 2021, the company started introducing its newer “Pro” models, starting with the Tiggo 7 Pro compact crossover and Tiggo 2 Pro subcompact. This was followed by their flagship Tiggo 8 Pro midsize crossover in 2022, which also started the brand’s push for electrification with an available plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant.
In 2023, the mild-hybrid version of the Tiggo 7 Pro was introduced alongside the refreshed Tiggo 5X (now known as Tiggo 5X Pro) which also now comes with a mild-hybrid version.
In the same year, the company started pushing for more electrification, previewing the Tiggo 7 Pro e+ (PHEV), and the fully-electric eQ1 mini hatchback and eQ7 compact crossover.
The company also saw its best retail sales performance and the growth of its local dealership network to 24.
For this year, the brand has launched the heavily-revised version of its entry-level Tiggo 2 Pro, and previewed another update to the Tiggo 5X Pro at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).
Five years is definitely a huge milestone. We wonder what else Chery Auto Philippines has in store for the future because they surely are very aggressive with our market.
