Porsche Taycan? No, it’s the new MG 07 that costs Php 1M
While Chinese cars are looking much more original now compared to a decade ago, some examples still fail to hide their imitation, particularly those that appear to be “inspired” by the Land Rover Defender. Now, even the Porsche Taycan gets its own copy.
What you’re looking at is the new MG 07, officially launched in China at the 2026 Chengdu Motor Show, and it appears to bring iconic Porsche design touches down to an affordable price tag of just below approximately Php 1-million.
The similarities are obvious, whether accidental or on purpose, and can be seen on the midsize sedan’s side profile, headlights, and even its taillights. Thankfully, it is set apart by a horizontal grille-like line connecting the lower part of the headlights, seemingly looking like certain models from Toyota this time.
And while the exterior may seem identical to other brands’ models, the interior is completely unique with a minimalist design, featuring a central 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system that houses most vehicle controls, and a smaller digital instrument cluster.
While the vehicle it shares some similarities with in design is exclusively fully electric, the MG 07 is available both as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or battery electric vehicle (BEV).
The PHEV version gets a 1.5-liter engine that produces 111 horsepower, and an electric motor that produces 207 horsepower. Pure electric range is rated at 245km, while combined range is estimated at up to 1,745km, both under the CLTC standard.
Meanwhile, there are multiple states of tune for the pure BEV variants, providing up to 320 horsepower and 350Nm of torque from a front-mounted electric motor, and offering up to 845km of range from multiple battery capacity options.
With how it looks, we won’t be surprised to see some buyers replace its MG badging for other brands, perhaps one with a horse. That is after all what seems to be happening with many examples of other vehicles that seem to share some styling cues with other models. What do you think?
