Volvo gives the EX30 the Cross Country treatment

Volvo finally has a Cross Country EV.

When Volvo entered the electric era with several new models, its EX lineup was positioned as its fully electric models, with the smallest EX30 rounding up the range as its subcompact crossover offering.

But knowing the Scandinavian automaker’s history of giving some of its cars a shot in the arm for off-road capabilities in the past, it was a matter of time before we saw the brand’s first-ever Cross Country EV, which comes in the form of the EX30 Cross Country.

It’s got the look of old rally-inspired hatchbacks.

It retains the unique styling elements found in the base EX30 such as the Thor’s hammer headlights and split taillights with pixel-like lighting elements, but adds a few more rugged touches.

First, the front and rear ends are blacked out with special decals that show the topography of the Kebnekaise mountain range in Sweden, alongside front and rear skid plates and fender extensions for additional protection. It comes with bigger wheels too (coming in at 19 inches), all contributing to the additional 19mm of ground clearance needed when you have to go off the beaten path.

You’ll probably want this with the optional Cross Country Experience package.

There also is an option for the Cross Country Experience package, which adds mudguards, all-terrain tires with 18-inch wheels, roof rails, and a roof basket.

The interior remains untouched.

This, of course, comes standard with all-wheel drive. Two electric motors total 422 horsepower and 542 Nm. Volvo claims a range of up to 427 km, and a 10-80% charge in around 26 minutes.

The interior is similar to the standard EX30, so you get the clean layout with a soundbar on the dashboard, Google Automotive built-in, and large storage compartments in the center and under the rear seats.

It will probably stay limited to places with harsher climates, but we can dream.

While prices haven’t been announced yet, deliveries are slated to start this Spring. would something like this make sense in the Philippines, or is the standard EX30 good enough already?
