Gran Turismo 7 teases the massive Spec III update with 2 new tracks, 8 cars, and more for December

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s exciting update, Gran Turismo 7 is celebrating the sale of over 100 million units by teasing a significant update for the game that’s coming in December 2025.
Called Spec III, this will rejuvenate the game with a whole host of new tracks and new cars, plus a whole bunch of added features and bug fixes.

While not all the details have been released yet, the Gran Turismo webpage has teased a couple of them, which include two real-life race tracks, such as the famous Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, and the scenic Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, meaning that we will be seeing two prominent circuits frequently featured in the Formula 1 calendar.

With eight new cars coming, it’s hard to tell if they’re old or new models, but Gran Turismo’s website confirms the arrival of the Ferrari 296 GT3, the first current GT3 car from the modern era to be added to the game; the comeback of the Mitsubishi FTO GP version R Aero series, a lightweight, 2.0-liter V6-powered front-wheel drive sports car that is a bit of a niche model.

Also making a return is the Mine’s Skyline GT-R R34, a fan-favorite and legendary tuned form of the R34 Skyline GT-R; and a new Formula Gran Turismo that looks to be based on F1 cars from the mid-2010s before the current regulations were implemented.

For those who want to improve their driving or take their sim racing seriously, there is a new Data Logger feature that provides extremely detailed telemetry and statistics.

Combine this with small quality-of-life improvements like the increase of the collector cap, unlimited car invitations, and enhancements to weekly challenges, and this update is shaping up to be an exciting one, as more details will be revealed. But remember, the last time Gran Turismo had a major Spec update, there weren’t any updates in the months prior, so consider this month’s September update to be its last in the meantime.
