You can soon watch videos on CarPlay and more with iOS 27

Not to be outdone by Google’s massive revamp of Android Auto that was previewed earlier this May, Apple is giving its own CarPlay some improvements with the introduction of iOS 27.
While CarPlay won’t be getting a huge visual revamp for both its interface and maps, it will be bringing over the ability to play videos in-car. Apple is also allowing developers to create CarPlay Apps with video browsing capabilities, meaning you can search from within select apps for videos.

Otherwise, AirPlay video streaming to a compatible vehicle screen is supported, with the vehicle’s display showing up as an AirPlay device.

Of course the improvements to Siri AI will be felt here assuming you have a supported device, where the virtual assistant, who was previously useless when it came to navigation and contact queries, can now do other things like pull up information contextually, much like Google’s Gemini (which the new Siri AI is based on).

Other improvements also come from iOS 27’s general focus on bug fixes and optimizations, so you can expect GPS accuracy and navigation heading improvements, improved wireless CarPlay reliability, the introduction of audio scrubbing controls and a mini player when inside other apps (such as navigation).
The best thing is that if you have an iPhone that supports iOS 27, you’ll be benefiting from most, if not all of these changes as soon as a public build launches.
