Volvo’s EX60 is the brand’s most popular crossover, but fully electric

One of Volvo’s best-selling vehicles, the XC60, is understandably well-loved in the range. It also comes with a plug-in hybrid model for those looking for an electrified variant of the crossover. But what if you wanted a fully electric variant?

Enter the EX60, the third electric model in Volvo’s full electric crossover lineup, slotting in between the EX30 and EX90 crossovers.

Volvo’s latest styling, at least for its EVs, is front and center here with lots of clean lines, smooth surfaces, the iconic “Thor’s Hammer” daytime running lights and vertical LED taillights that call back to the XC60’s vertical taillights, and tricks such as hidden door handles now integrated into the beltline to achieve its low drag coefficient of 0.26.

This, plus Volvo’s new SPA3 electric architecture, allows it to reach ranges of up to 810km on a single charge, at least for the P12 AWD Electric with 680 horsepower and 790Nm of torque, coming from a large 117kWh battery. It can also do the 0-100kph sprint in just 3.9 seconds, and it can rapidly charge using a 400kW fast charger to add up to 340km of range in 10 minutes.

Otherwise, the other variants are more tame, with the base P6 Electric having 369 horsepower and 480Nm of torque from a single motor and an 83kWh battery for up to 620km of range, and the P10 AWD Electric doing 510 horsepower and 710Nm of torque from two electric motors, with a 91kWh battery allowing it to do up to 660km on a single charge.

And following Scandinavian design principles, the interior is very clean, with most functionality accessed from the two screens with Google Gemini AI built in, which Volvo claims is “the most responsive user experience in any Volvo car to date”. Plus, an optional 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system is capable of Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio.

There is also an exclusive Cross Country trim like before, which adds exclusive design touches such as additional body cladding, wheels, and interior materials, plus an additional lift to allow for the car to not scrape when it’s time for it to go off the beaten path.

Seeing as this is one of Volvo’s more premium offerings, this will most likely go up against the BMW iX3, Audi Q6 e-tron, Lexus RZ, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric. Would you get this over those?
