BYD tops electrified vehicle sales charts in PH with over 26,000 units sold

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen some car brands announce that they are leading sales in the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) segments, but in the end, we always knew who the real winner was.
Who else is it but none other than BYD Cars Philippines, under the management of the Ayala Corporation’s ACMobility, which ended 2025 with 26,122 units sold, a whopping 446% increase compared to the previous year.

In the BEV category, its sales are led by the Seagull which saw 4,608 units sold, beating the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y’s combined figure of somewhere above 2,200 units (as of November 2025). Meanwhile, its PHEV sales are unsurprisingly led by the Sealion 6 DM-i, with the specific number withheld in the company’s press release for whatever reason. It shouldn’t be hard to guess that this might be their biggest mover, considering how many are plying our roads today.

We also won’t be surprised if the Seal 5 DM-i and Sealion 5 DM-i are included in the brand’s top-sellers. But all-in-all, the company’s total sales was enough for it to become the top-selling brand among PHEVs and BEVs in the local market, mirroring the brand’s performance around the world.
Coinciding with these record sales figures for the company, it was also announced that BYD and ACMobility have also renewed their distribution partnership for passenger cars in the Philippines. On top of those numbers, the partnership also resulted in the brand’s dealer network growing to 79 dealerships nationwide, growing from just 25 locations at the end of 2024.
“2025 marked a significant milestone in the advancement and broader adoption of New Energy Vehicles in the country,” said BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca. “BYD’s strong growth underscores our sustained commitment to democratizing electrified mobility. It demonstrates that when innovation is paired with accessibility, the market responds positively. We remain firmly focused on making electric vehicles attainable for Filipino households nationwide.”
BYD Cars Philippines was established in 2023, as the exclusive distributor of BYD passenger vehicles in the country. 2025 was a very aggressive year for them in terms of expansion, especially with the launches of the Shark 6 DMO plug-in hybrid pickup truck in March, the eMax 7 electric compact MPV in April, the Sealion 5 DM-i plug-in hybrid subcompact crossover in June, the Tang DM-i plug-in hybrid midsize crossover in September, and the eMax 9 DM-i plug-in hybrid minivan in October.
