It looks like the all-new Lexus ES might come to the PH only as an EV

At the start of the year, Toyota Motor Philippines and by extension, Lexus Philippines, did something not seen in the industry before and announced all of its upcoming vehicles for the rest of the year. One of these new vehicles is the Lexus ES, which received an all-new generation that made its debut at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show.

For this new generation, this is the first time the midsize sedan will be offered either as a hybrid or a pure battery electric vehicle.
With Lexus Philippines going all-in with electrification, it should be no surprise that there is a big chance that the model we’ll be getting is a BEV, and homologation documents from the Department of Energy’s list of recognized electric vehicles show that we might be getting only one variant, unless it’s possible that the hybrid models are still undergoing homologation.

That variant is the ES 350e, the single motor variant with a decent 224 horsepower (167kW) and a generous range of up to 685km on a single charge. The sedan gets that range from a 74.68kWh battery and an entirely redesigned body that prioritizes aerodynamics.
While this shows that everything is up in the air, we’re not sure if Lexus Philippines will introduce the higher power ES 500e, or even the two hybrid electric vehicle variants, but do you think this is a good move to distinguish it from its other competitors in the luxury space?
