You can soon buy HRC performance parts for your Honda Civic Type R (FL5)

At this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, Honda unveiled a camouflaged blue-and-red Civic Type R under the banner of its new HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) lineup. Not much information was given about these cars or parts, apart from them eventually being introduced to the market.

A few months later, Honda Japan teased on its YouTube channel a development video of the Type R HRC Concept going around the Suzuka Circuit.
This seems timely as the Honda Civic Type R has lost its crown at the Nürburgring Nordschleife to the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50, which claimed the title of the fastest front-wheel drive production model, albeit by just a fraction of a second at 7:44.523 versus the Civic’s 7:44.881.

According to Honda Racing Corporation, the car and parts were developed with its Japanese motorsports expertise. Based on the teaser and its close-up shots, you can see that there’s an all-new, more aggressive front bumper, larger fender arches and more aggressive side skirts, a revised rear wing, and a rear bumper with a new diffuser.

There could be performance upgrades hidden underneath, but the most obvious are from the HRC-branded front intercooler and the Akrapovic exhaust.

More importantly, thanks to an interview with Japanese publication CarWatch during the Honda All Type R World Meeting 2026 held at Motegi, HRC boss Koji Watanabe mentioned that these will be separate performance parts that will be sold separately,in both Japan and United States, though we won’t be surprised if Honda does offer a limited HRC edition of the FL5 Type R as a very special send-off run for the discontinued model.
