Nissan NX7 specs show it’s a PHEV with up to 225km of EV range

Sometime last week, Dongfeng Nissan took to social media to reveal its latest model, the NX7. Apart from showing off how the car looks, not much else was revealed.

However, thanks to homologation documents from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a handful of specifications for the crossover were revealed, and notably a large electric-only range figure.

We’ve seen how it looks with its distinct split headlight, closed-grille look with an LED light bar, and a LiDAR sensor hump above the windshield. It comes in three different wheel choices of either 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, with a sporty model featuring open multi-spoke wheels with large red brake calipers.

It measures 4,785mm long, 1,932mm wide, and 1,665mm tall with a 2,815mm wheelbase. This pretty much confirms that size-wise, it’s a direct competitor to the likes of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i with similar measurements of 4,775mm long, 1,890mm wide, and 1,670mm tall with a 2,756mm wheelbase.

While there’s no information about the interior or the technology yet, it’s confirmed to be a plug-in hybrid that utilizes a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine (NR15) paired to an electric motor for a maximum of 228 horsepower.

However, the most impressive feat is the NX7’s full-electric range thanks to its 40.95kWh LFP battery, making it possible for the car to drive up to 225km (CLTC) on a single full charge. The combined range isn’t stated, but this means it is possible for it to easily drive above 1,000km with no sweat.

While we wait for the full specifications to be released, does this entice you to pick it over the likes of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i or the Geely EX5 EM-i, which are both also plug-in hybrid compact crossovers from China?
