Kia PV5 units have arrived in PH, but we can’t see them yet

We already know that Kia Philippines is preparing to launch the PV5 fully electric van in our market, confirmed at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) last June. We also already know that it will come in at least a Cargo Long Standard Range, when information became available to us just a few weeks ago.

And while we still don’t know when the Korean automaker plans to officially launch the PV5 locally, other bits of information have started coming out, giving us a better idea of what to expect.

As previously reported, the Kia PV5 Cargo Long Standard Range will be powered by a single electric motor that makes 163 horsepower and 250Nm of torque, mated to a 51.5kWh lithium-ion battery that allows for a driving range of up to 384km. New information says that Kia Philippines will also be offering an extended range version.

That one gets a larger 71.20kWh lithium-ion battery, allowing for a higher driving range estimate of up to 524km. No information is available yet at the time of this writing as to whether Kia Philippines will also be offering non-Cargo variants of the PV5.

But more than just its powertrain options, what could be the first batch of Kia PV5 units has already arrived on our shores, specifically at the Port of Batangas where most new vehicle shipments arrive from overseas. Available public information says that a total of 102 units have already arrived.

Information on the Kia PV5 for the Philippines is still quite incomplete right now, but given that examples of the fully electric van have already arrived, it could mean that its launch will be coming very soon.
