The BYD Dolphin is now part of Muntinlupa City’s police fleet

More and more local government units (LGU) in the Philippines are adding BYD vehicles to their fleets. For some time now, the Provincial Government of Bataan has been using the BYD Dolphin for its transport needs, while the City Government of Valenzuela City has also been using the same model for its patrol vehicle fleet.

Joining in is Muntinlupa City which has recently added the BYD Dolphin to its police car fleet, bringing electrification to the city’s operations, and adding yet another partner LGU for BYD Cars Philippines.

“The acquisition of the BYD Dolphins is a part of the long-term investment in clean energy that Muntinlupa has already committed to. With electric patrol cars, our police force can stay on the road longer without worry and gives them a more reliable way to serve our community,” said Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon.

A total of eight units of the BYD Dolphin have been turned over to the Muntinlupa City local government, assigned directly to the Muntinlupa City Police Station under the Philippine National Police (PNP). The fleet will support the boosting of police visibility in the city through its use in daily law enforcement activities and road patrols.

The fleet is also expected to deliver significant operational savings due to them being battery electric vehicles (BEVs), compared to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) patrol cars. BEVs have been known to have lower maintenance requirements on top of zero fuel costs.
