Geely PH Continues Expansion Despite COVID-19 Pandemic

Early last year, it was announced that Sojitz G Auto Philippines, official distributor of Geely in the Philippines, was planning to open 15 new dealerships for the year 2020. This also included another 15 for 2021. As with most plans, these were either pushed back or cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Despite that, it seems that Geely Philippines is no longer as affected as it reaches its sales targets and at the same time continues its expansion plans for its dealer network around the country.

Currently, there are 11 fully-operational Geely dealerships nationwide with 13 more expected to open soon. As a new brand, Geely aims to bring convenience to many and to become accessible to more people as soon as possible. Just recently, SGAP has appointed new dealers for Geely Bacolod, Dagupan, Marilao, Bacolor, and Sumulong.

Currently operational Geely dealerships can be found in North EDSA, Quezon Avenue, Makati, Baliwag, Cagayan De Oro, Imus, Cebu City, General Santos City, Davao City, Lipa City, and Zamboanga City.

Dealerships that are close to being operational soon can be found in Angeles City, Iloilo City, Pasay City, Manila City, Sta. Rosa, Bacolod, Dagupan. Also coming soon are Geely dealerships in San Fernando, Marikina, Las Piñas, Marilao, Tacloban City, and Taytay-Cainta.

“We are taking a more aggressive approach in reaching out to more customers in the country this year as we keep up with our target network expansion schedules which were stalled by the long-standing global crisis,” SGAP President & CEO Mr. Yosuke Nishi said.

Geely is one of the strong and fastest growing contenders in the country’s car industry that surpassed many expectations in the past year, from product quality to sales volume, especially during the pandemic. The Geely Coolray, the brand’s most popular model locally, recently topped monthly sales charts in its segment for the first quarter of this year with 744 units finding new homes.

“As the crisis is seen to take longer, this year will definitely be another tough year to battle for many businesses. On the brighter side of things, I would like to believe that Geely was introduced in the Philippines at the right time, at a point where buyers are now demanding for more high tech and safety features in cars they wish to purchase yet still reasonably priced,” Nishi said.

There’s definitely a lot more to look forward to for Geely in the Philippines this year. Aside from its current expansion, new models are expected to be introduced during the second half of the year. As to what they are, we’ll probably find out soon.
