BIMS 2023: Mitsubishi previews new Strada as XRT Concept
The Mitsubishi Strada is definitely getting old despite its exterior appearance ageing quite well, as well as its 2.4L MIVEC engine’s still very commendable performance. It does look like we’re about to see the new one soon though as the concept vehicle which will be based on has just been revealed.
Say hello to the Mitsubishi XRT Concept which was revealed at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show. This is essentially what will become the next generation Mitsubishi Strada and it looks like we have a lot to expect.
In terms of design, easily seen on the XRT Concept is the design seen on spotted camouflaged versions of what is said to be the Strada testing on public roads. It still gets the brand’s signature Dynamic Shield front fascia but with a more rugged and upright shape which can also be seen around the rest of the vehicle.
Unfortunately there is no interior on the concept vehicle, as well as photos of it but we do expect it to be a lot more modern and tech-filled as well just like how some other Nissan-based Mitsubishi models ended up. Also, no details about expected powertrains have been shared yet, but given how good the current 4N15 engine is, maybe we’ll see it soldier on with some improvements instead such as higher outputs.
The all-new Mitsubishi Strada based on the XRT Concept is expected to be revealed before the year ends for the Thai-market. Other markets are expected to follow soon after. We think this has a lot of promise.
