Ford PH teases the all-new Territory

2 min read

After much speculation in recent weeks, we’ve finally received confirmation from Ford Philippines on the introduction of the all-new 2nd generation of the very popular Territory compact SUV as they posted on their official Facebook page a teaser video.

Known as the Equator Sport in China, the 2nd generation Territory has been redesigned from the ground up and is wholly developed by Ford, unlike the current outgoing model which is based on the JMC Yusheng S330. Also, we’re not the first market to receive it as it is already available in ASEAN countries like Vietnam and Cambodia.

So what can we expect from the 2nd generation Ford Territory? For its exterior, it wears the company’s latest “Progressive Energy in Strength” design language, also seen on products such as the Ford Mondeo and Evos. This gives it a sportier and more aggressive exterior look as opposed to the low-key and premium vibe of the outgoing version. As for the inside, it also receives a more modern cabin with large screens and more premium appointments such as its two-tone black and blue scheme.

We can expect the new Ford Territory to have full LED exterior lighting, 19-inch alloy wheels, dual 12.3-inch screens for the driver and infotainment system, rotary knob for the gear selector, and panoramic sunroof, once it’s launched here.

Under the hood, the second generation Ford Territory may come with either a 2.0L naturally-aspirated engine, or a 1.5L turbocharged EcoBoost engine. Our market will most likely get the latter option which produces 170 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission. These numbers are a huge improvement compared to the outgoing model.

We can also expect it to come fully-equipped in terms of safety with Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 system like the outgoing model. This should give it Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Information System, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning, just to name a few.

Ford Philippines hasn’t announced when they’re launching the all-new Territory but given the timing of this teaser, it is highly likely to debut at the upcoming Manila International Auto Show on April 13 to 16 where the brand will be participating again after missing in the last one.
