After several teasers and media preview test drives, Chery Auto Philippines has finally and officially launched the all-new second generation of its compact crossover offering, the Tiggo 7 Pro.

The all-new model was first previewed to the general public during MIAS Wired in December last year. This is Chery’s first launch for the 2021 and is also their first for a mainstream model ever since they first reentered the market back in 2019.

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is completely new and nothing from the outgoing model can be seen on the outside. The front fascia makes use of Chery’s latest design language featuring a large “Sunshine Galaxy” front grille and features equipment such as full matrix LED headlights with LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights. Wheels are 18-inch two-tone alloys and it also gets LED taillights which look like those found on the larger Tiggo 8.

Inside, it’s all different as well. The dashboard is very similar to the one found in the larger Tiggo 8 while the seats which are wrapped in faux leather are carried over from the outgoing model. For infotainment, it gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay with sound sent through 6 speakers. Other standard features are an electronic gear selector, dual-zone automatic climate control with touch-sensitive controls, wireless charging pad, 360-degree around-view monitor, front and rear parking sensors, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, interior mood lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.

For convenience, the Tiggo 7 Pro unlocks once the smart key is detected within 1.2 meters around the vehicle. The power tailgate also features hands-free function.

Powering the 2021 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is the same 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine from the outgoing model. It still produces the same 145 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque but is now paired to a continuously variable transmission or CVT with 9 simulated gear ratios, replacing the dual-clutch transmission (DCT) on the outgoing version.

Safety features include Anti-Lock Brakes, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Electronic Stabilisation Program, Electronic Brake Assist, Traction Control, Hill-start Assist Control, Hill Descent Control, and ISOFIX. It also has a Brake Override System, which automatically overrides the throttle when the accelerator and brake pedals are depressed at the same time. The Tiggo 7 Pro also has an Emergency Signal System, which flashes the hazard lights at high speed if the driver suddenly brakes when traveling at high speed to alert the motorist following behind.

Just like all other Chery models in the country, all who purchase the Tiggo 7 Pro will be able to take advantage of Chery’s standard 10-year/1 million-km engine warranty, a 5-year/150,000-km general vehicle warranty, free 3 years preventive maintenance service (PMS), and free 3 years roadside assistance which is quite an irresistible package.

The 2021 Chery Tiggo 7 is available in two variants, Comfort and Pro. The Comfort is priced at Php 1,128,000 while the Pro is priced at Php 1,198,000, a mere Php 3,000 increase over the 2020 model. It should compete directly with vehicles like the Ford Territory and probably even the smaller Geely Coolray where both are priced within the same range.
