Ford PH Listens To Customers, To Launch Diesel F-150
When the outgoing 13th generation of the Ford F-150 was launched in the Philippines last year, one of the biggest questions other than the fact that it was old and replaced a day after was where is the diesel engine?
Ford Philippines, during the media preview said that it is still possible for them to launch the diesel-powered F-150 if there’s demand for it, and confirmed just today, they will be.
Announced through the new ‘Coming Soon’ models page on the official Ford Philippines website, the 14th generation of the F-150 is finally coming to the Philippines. The announcement comes a little over a year since the previous generation was launched.
The announcement also answers the big question on where’s the diesel engine. Under the hood will be a 3.0 L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel V6 powertrain. This is good for 250 horsepower and 597 Nm of torque. That is paired to Ford’s 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.
While it may look visually similar to the model it replaces, the 2022 Ford F-150 is still a large 92% different from the previous generation. The exterior is more aerodynamic while the interior is completely new.
Ford Philippines was not completely scarce with details as they also announced the variant to reach local shores which will be the Lariat 4×4. With that said and based on the US market, expect the F-150 to be equipped with LED exterior lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, interior mood lighting, and a 12-inch SYNC4 touchscreen infotainment system when it reaches here. It is unknown right now whether the Lariat 4×4 will be the only option locally or if they will also introduce a Sport 4×2 and Platinum 4×4 just like the outgoing model.
There’s no confirmation yet as to when the all-new Ford F-150 Lariat Diesel 4×4 will be launched locally as well as its specific specifications but it could definitely before the end of the year or even by early next year. For now, we’ll just have to wait for further announcements.
