Geely Emgrand officially launching in PH on Feb 25

It’s really no longer a secret that Geely Philippines will soon be entering the popular B-segment sedan segment, after nearly three years of having a vehicle lineup purely made-up of crossovers.
What’s also not so secret is the model they will be launching. They may have not disclosed exactly what it is but thanks to the many spy shots and teasers, we all know that the Geely Emgrand will be coming to the Philippines, and it’s happening before the month ends.
To be exact, the 2022 Geely Emgrand will be launched online via Facebook Live on February 25, 2022, 7:00 PM, as announced on Geely Philippines’ official social media platforms. That’s a little over two weeks from now. So why is this launch a big deal?
Well for starters, the brand’s bestselling model, the Coolray B-segment crossover, took the market by storm ever since its launch in 2019. It is currently one of the top-selling models in its segment locally and has even grown itself and the Geely brand a strong following. Another is the segment that the brand is getting into. Given that Chinese cars are priced mostly much more affordable than the usual choices despite having similar or more amounts of equipment, it won’t be a surprise if the Geely Emgrand were to be the same. We can expect its prices to undercut its would-be rivals such as the Toyota Vios, Honda City, and Nissan Almera, just to name a few.
So in terms of features, what can we expect from this upcoming sedan from Geely? On the outside, the Emgrand wears a design inspired by the Preface sedan, giving it an upmarket and premium look. Based on the latest teaser, it will have LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, and wraparound LED taillights.
Just like the outside, the interior of the Emgrand gives off an upmarket and premium vibe. Expect it to be equipped with a fully-digital instrument cluster, two-tone color scheme, and a large touchscreen infotainment system.
Under the hood, no details have been revealed by Geely Philippines but the Emgrand will most likely have a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline 4-cylinder powertrain that produces 114 horsepower and 147 Nm of torque, paired to a continuously variable transmission.
Pricing has not yet been announced nor are there any leaks as to what they are but we can expect it to be priced around the same or even lower than its rivals in the segment. Again, the 2022 Geely Emgrand is launching on February 25, 2022.
