Here is the all-new Honda Civic Hatchback

2 min read

When Honda first introduced the all-new 11th generation Civic earlier this year, they got mixed reactions on whether it looked good or not. For us it did, and Honda has introduced another Civic which we think is even better.

Meet the all-new 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback, which the company says is aimed at young, active buyers with increased versatility, sportier driving character and Euro-inspired exterior design, built on the 2022 Civic sedan which arrived in US dealerships earlier this month.

Outside, Honda says the Civic hatchback features a european-inspired profile. The front fascia remains the same as that found on the sedan, still giving it mini Accord vibes. It does get a new honeycomb design on the front grille. What’s obviously different is from the B-pillar going back where the Civic hatchback features a sloping roof and a…hatch. The taillights are also well differentiated from those of the sedan, also giving the hatch a sportier appearance.

Inside, pretty much everything remains the same as well. It still features the honeycomb pattern covering the airconditioning vents. Also available are a 7-inch digital instrument cluster combined with a traditional analog speedometer or a 10.2-inch fully-digital instrument cluster. A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 12-speaker Bose audio system are also standard on higher variants. Lower variants get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Both screen types get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone integration as standard.

Under the hood, the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback features the same engine options found on the sedan. The first is a naturally-aspirated 2.0 L inline-4 cylinder i-VTEC while the second is a 1.5 L inline-4 VTEC turbo. The former produces 158 hp and 187 Nm of torque while the latter makes 180 hp and 240 Nm of torque. Both are paired to a CVT but are also available with the option of a 6-speed manual transmission unlike on the sedan.

As for safety, all Civic hatchback variants get Honda Sensing as standard. This includes features such as Adaptive Cruise Control and a Lane Keep Assist System.

The all-new Honda Civic Hatchback is expected to go on sale in the United States and Japan in a few months. Do you think Honda Cars Philippines should go and give us the hatchback too alongside the Civic sedan?
