The all-new Honda CR-V will make its ASEAN debut soon

2 min read

It’s been a few months since Honda first unveiled the all-new sixth generation of the CR-V compact crossover for the North American market and as usual, the big question is when will it arrive in the Philippine market. Well it looks like we’re getting closer to that as it will be making its ASEAN debut in Thailand very soon.

The all-new Honda CR-V will be launched in the Land of Smiles with an appearance at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show also very likely. And while Honda Automobile Thailand Co., Ltd. has not released full details, they have made mention of a few stuff about the upcoming Honda CR-V for the Thai market, including a photo of two of its variants.

First, the Honda CR-V for the Thai market receives minor differences compared to the one released in the North American market. The most obvious one is the front bumper which receives a sleeker appearance. It also gets a different wheel design on the RS variant which is also new for this generation. Of course, we’re expecting it to be equipped with full LED headlights and taillights like the outgoing generation.

As for the interior, Honda has not released any photos for the Thai version but we expect it to remain the same as the North American CR-V with its Civic-like design. We’re expecting it to have a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and leather seats as standard. In addition, various sources are stating that the Thai market Honda CR-V will remain available in 5- and 7-seater options just like the outgoing model.

The biggest difference not immediately visible may be under the hood as Honda has announced that the Thai market CR-V will be powered by choices of the brand’s 1.5-liter VTEC turbo gasoline engine or their e:HEV hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. The former could make 190 hp and 243 Nm of torque like in the Accord while the latter may produce 207 hp and 335 Nm.

This could also mean that we will no longer get the popular turbodiesel option which helped the CR-V gain back its footing in the Philippine market. The said powertrain was already discontinued in Thailand last year.

The all-new Honda CR-V again will make its debut at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show. We don’t have information yet when it will arrive in the Philippines but given the timing, there’s a chance for it to arrive this year or early next year.
