Jeep PH launches Renegade with lower starting price
A few weeks ago we reported that GAC-FCA, the joint venture company of Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) with GAC Motor Co. of China started exporting units of the Jeep Compass and Renegade to the Philippines. Now the local distributor of Jeep vehicles, Auto Nation Group has launched the 2020 Jeep Renegade with a lower starting price.
Before that let’s talk about the vehicle itself. The Renegade is a subcompact crossover SUV and is positioned as the entry-level model to the Jeep brand. It was first launched in the country during the 2016 Philippine International Motor Show.
In front the Renegade features Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille and a set of round halogen headlights. The lower parts of the crossover’s body are also wrapped in large black plastic body cladding which makes it look more rugged. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, it gets a 7-inch UConnect 4 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife. CarLife is a Chinese competitor to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Sound is sent through six speakers. You will also find inside a leather-wrapped tilt and telescoping steering wheel, 60/40 split folding rear seats, and a nice panoramic sunroof.
Under the hood, the Renegade is powered by a 1.4-liter four cylinder Tjet turbocharged gasoline engine. It produces an output of 147 hp and 230 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dry dual-clutch transmission. Safety features include 7 airbags, electronic stability control, reverse camera, and rear parking sensors.
Thanks to ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement, the 2020 Jeep Renegade’s suggested retail price now starts at Php 1,640,000 for the Longitude variant. The Limited variant’s SRP starts at Php 1,790,000. The previous Renegades had prices starting at Php 2.19 million. There is also a Php 50,000 discount for those reserving a unit before June 30, 2020. The 2020 Jeep Renegade is now available at all Jeep dealerships nationwide.
