Jeep PH to start selling China-made vehicles
Jeep Philippines will be selling vehicles made in China soon. This comes as Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) experiences a sales slump in China.
Exports to the Philippines began on January 17, said GAC-FCA. GAC-FCA is FCA’s joint venture with Chinese carmaker GAC Motor Co. As of March 31, a combined 527 units of the Jeep Compass and Renegade have been already shipped.
GAC-FCA was established in 2010 in the City of Changsha. The company has factories in Changsha and Guangzhou. The two factories have a combined manufacturing capacity of 328,000 vehicles, and builds four models, the Jeep Compass, Renegade, Cherokee, and Grand Commander.
The start of exports to the Philippines will help improve utilization of the factory. No details on future export plans and if the other models will also be exported to the country.
