Mitsubishi has teased what could just be the reborn Pajero we’ve all been waiting for

Mitsubishi Motors ended 2025 with a dedication video about their rally heritage, posted on New Year’s Eve. But taking everyone’s attention is what came towards the end.

The Japanese automaker seems to have teased a large new SUV, possibly hinting at the much-awaited return of the legendary Pajero nameplate which has been absent for a few years now, after its discontinuation in 2021. Watch the full video below:

The vehicle in question presents itself as a large boxy SUV, featuring T-shaped LED daytime running lights, following the brand’s latest design signature as seen on the Xforce and Destinator crossovers, two of its latest models. These also match various spy images that can be found online.

Also noteworthy is how the video transitions from showing the Dakar Rally-winning Pajero Evolution competition car to the new SUV, hinting at it as a potential successor to the nameplate.

And while details other than most assumptions are scarce, speculation is high that the current Y63 generation Nissan Patrol will be serving as a base for the next Mitsubishi Pajero which looks about right considering how much the two brands have been sharing in recent years.

With Mitsubishi coming off a very strong past few years with launches of models such as the aforementioned Xforce and Destinator crossovers, and the sixth-generation of the Triton midsize pickup truck, all eyes are now to the brand’s future, more so now with the teaser.

Are you excited for the Mitsubishi Pajero’s potential comeback?
