Mitsubishi Motors PH previews Outlander PHEV

Just a few days after we spotted a unit of the new sixth generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander, specifically the PHEV variant, driving on local roads, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), is teasing its arrival with an unexpected preview.

The new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was among the vehicles displayed at the recently concluded Mitsubishi Motors Philippines 60th Anniversary Expo, which was held at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City until August 13, 2023 (Sunday).

The fourth generation Mitsubishi Outlander was unveiled in 2021, built on the same platform as the Nissan X-Trail which is also yet to be launched here. Anyway, the Outlander is completely new with its overall design that is heavily based on the Engelberg Tourer concept. The front fascia features an evolved version of Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield Design language.

As for its interior, it’s a huge departure as well from the one we still currently have. It’s a lot sleeker and a lot more modern and premium than before, plus it features more technology. The one shown by MMPC features an orange and black interior color combination which we hope makes it to the local version’s final spec sheet.

Powering the plug-in hybrid version is a carry-over 2.4-liter 4B12 Inline 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated MIVEC gasoline engine from the previous generation, paired with a larger 20 kWh lithium-ion battery and more powerful electric motor. Its total output is 251 horsepower and 451 Nm of torque. It also has a full electric driving range of 61 km.

We don’t know when Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation plans to introduce this all-new Outlander as they’ve been relatively mum about it. Given that it’s already here in the country, hopefully within the next few months.
