Toyota reveals the very luxurious Century SUV
Made exclusively for the Japanese market, the Century is Toyota’s flagship line of vehicles, sitting even higher than the company’s luxury brand, Lexus. With the growing demand for higher-riding vehicles, Toyota has decided to give the Century a new bodystyle in the form of an SUV.
The Toyota Century debuted in 1967 as Toyota’s premium chauffeur-driven car. It was built with the best technology Japan had to offer at the time. Until now, Toyota says that the Century serves as Japan’s chauffeured car of choice to which they turned it into a concept dubbed as The Chauffeur, followed by the new Century SUV.
Now before you fret, don’t worry, the Toyota Century sedan will continue to be offered alongside this new SUV version.
Looking at its exterior, the Century SUV is undoubtedly luxurious with its stately grandeur design theme. It leans towards the conservative side, following a minimalistic Japanese approach with horizontal and vertical line elements to emphasize its presence. Split front and rear LED lighting can be seen with the phoenix emblem right in the center of both the front fascia and rear tailgate.
Of course, inside is the best place to be in with a vehicle like the Toyota Century and it is very much apparent that this is no regular Toyota. Its interior is designed with opulent touches such as its choice of leather material and wood finishes. It is also obviously designed to provide passengers with utmost comfort with features such as fully reclining rear seats and an audio system designed to feel like a live performance.
And despite being designed to be chauffeur-driven, the Century SUV is no slouch. Powering it is a newly developed 3.5-liter 2GR-FXS V6 gasoline engine with a series parallel plug-in hybrid system. Combined, the powertrain produces up to 406 horsepower and also has an all-electric range of 69 km.
Again, the Toyota Century is exclusively available in Japan. Pricing over there is at JP¥ 25,000,000 or a little less than Php 10,000,000.
