Chery Auto PH to preview new energy models at 2023 Philippine EV Summit

Chery Auto Philippines is definitely serious with its electrification strategy as in addition to its existing lineup of mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, it is set to preview a trio of what is now dubbed as new energy vehicles at the 2023 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS).

The Chinese automaker announced last night in a release that they will be showcasing two fully electric vehicles and one plug-in hybrid vehicle, all three are currently not yet available here in the Philippines.

They didn’t mention what exact models will be present for preview at the PEVS but if we were to base on a previous announcement and the teaser image provided by the company, it is safe to assume that these will be the Chery eQ1 small EV hatchback, Chery eQ7 compact SUV, and the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV. Other Chery models already available locally, such as the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid (mild hybrid) and the Tiggo 8 Pro e+ PHEV, will be available for test drive during the EV Summit.

“Chery Auto Philippines wants to be at the forefront of change promoting a new era of green mobility. This path we are heading to aligns with Chery’s global advocacy to promote green mobility through technological innovation,” said Chery Auto Philippines Managing Director Froilan Dytianquin. “Essentially, Chery’s current model line up will be further complemented with complete new energy derivatives such as hybrids, PHEVs and new full electric vehicle models,” he added.

The 2023 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit opens this coming October 19 (Thursday) and will run until October 21, 2023 (Saturday) at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
